Schlachter wins 7th Straight Senior Player of the Year

With a win in the Pennsylvania Senior Amateur Stroke Play, a fourth in the Art Wall, also a Pennsylvania GA competition, and other strong finished, Paul Schlachter, Nevillewood, won his seventh straight WPGA Senior Player of the Year accolade, 2004-2010.  Bill Baloh, Herminie, won five straight honors, 1999-2003, so he and Schlachter have won the last twelve senior honors.  Area dominance has also been the case among amateurs, with Oakmont’s Sean Knapp being the area’s #1 amateur, 1994-2002.

Schlachter edged former WPGA President, Don Erickson, III, DuBois/Indiana, with the Art Wall being the difference at the end of the year.  Schlachter edged Erickson, 250-225.    Erickson was runner-up in the WPGA Senior Amateur at Lake View to Erie’s Bob Paris, then qualified for match play at the USGA Senior Amateur Championship.
