Waynesburg’s Rachel Rohanna, a junior at Ohio State, finished tied 3rd in the Big Ten Women’s Championships at French Lick Grand Resort, Indiana with scores of 74-71-73–218. The Buckeyes finished 3rd as well to advance a Divison 1 Regional to be played May 10-12 at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course.
Rohanna, who shared the 2009-10 Frank Fuhrer, III, Award for the area’s outstanding collegiate golfer with Maryland’s Jon Popeck, was the first woman to compete in the 100 plus year history of the 2010 PNC West Penn Open at St. Clair. Her first round of 75 enabled her to make the cut. Rohanna has recorded several top finishes during the 2011-12 collegiate season.
Rohanna was recently named to the All Big-Ten first team due to her 3rd place finish. She has averaged 74.78 strokes in 28 competition rounds, with a victory in the Lady Buckeye Invitational, shooting 212 for 54 holes. She also recorded six rounds under par and consistently finished in the top twenty of every competition all season.
