Todd secures privileges

Brendon Todd, Atlanta, a Pittsburgh native, was medalist in last year’s PGA Tour Qualifying School. He won nearly $475,000 in 2012, 150th on the money list, which will provide him conditional status. He played in the finals, November 28-December 3, in California at the PGA West’s Nicklaus and Stadium Courses, recording 70-69-70-72-70-67–418, missing by three strokes as he gave it his best with his lowest score a final round 67. He will have full privileges in the Web.Com Tour in 2013.

Ed Loar, who won the prestigious Sunnehanna Amateur in 1999 and 2000, experienced a second sad ending in qualifying school, two incidents a decade apart. In 2002, he shot 65, signed a wrong score card for 66, to miss the tour by one stroke. He played the last two holes yesterday in three over par, a double bogey and bogey, to miss again by one.  Loar has come close but he has never secured his PGA Tour card.
