USGA Intern begins WPGA employment

Alana English began her duties as the Association’s PJ Boatwright intern on May 6. She graduated last December from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she received a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast News. While at Colorado she was a sports intern at KDVR Fox 31 in Denver. She played junior golf at Valley Brook Country Club and at St. Clair Country Club where her family currently belongs. English’s primary tasks will be in course rating, championship administration and communications.

The six-month internship is funded primarily by the United States Golf Association and is named in memory of P.J. Boatwright, Jr. who joined the USGA as an assistant director in 1959. Mr. Boatwright was the primary championship and Rules of Golf staff leader at the USGA. His first job in golf was as Executive Director of the Carolinas Golf Association.
