When Washington native Steve Wheatcroft competes in the final web.com Tour event at the Dye Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach October 26-29, he knows a strong finish returns him to the PGA Tour in 2014.
After three events in the four stage finals, he is 37th on the money list among the 150 players competing in the finals. The top 25 on the web.com money list have already gained 2014 PGA Tour cards. Another 25 from this series will receive theirs. Although Wheatcroft is 37th, twelve players ahead of him already have qualified and this leaves him #25 of those who will get their cards through the finals.
If Wheatcroft qualifies for the 2014 PGA Tour, it will be his fourth time on tour. The 2004 West Penn Open champion has won about $2.5 million in eight seasons on both tours since his debut season on the Nationwide Tour in 2006.
Brendon Todd, who learned to play golf as a youngster at Rolling Hills, already gained PGA Tour playing privileges with his #18 finish on the web.com Tour money list.
