The 2013-14 Women’s Golf Team at Robert Morris University will be its last for awhile. RMU announced on December 3 that seven varsity sports, four men’s and two women’s, will be dropped at the end of this academic year. The cuts include women’s golf, a relatively new program at RMU. The men’s team will continue. RMU sponsored 23 athletic teams, among the leaders in teams sponsored at Division I schools. Team members on scholarship will retain them until they graduate. The athletes in the affected sports are also free to transfer to another school without having to sit out a season.
Duquesne University dropped its men’s golf team in 2012.
