Western Pennsylvania Junior Golf Night

Sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association – Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 6:00 PM at Oakmont Country Club

All Western Pennsylvania junior golfers, parents and high school golf coaches are invited to attend WPGA Junior Golf Night. The evening is complimentary for all attendees. Space is limited and registration must be done online here.

The program will provide information to junior golfers about opportunities the game of golf may provide. The evening will be interactive, and attendees are encouraged to prepare questions in advance. The panel will share their experiences and knowledge of golf. The group will answer questions about championship preparations, college recruiting, scheduling, routines, opportunities in the game and business of golf, and balancing the game with life. Attendees are encouraged to question the panelists, a group of the area’s top players and coaches.

The evening’s panel will consist of:

Pete Coughlin – California University of Pennsylvania Menís Golf Head Coach, 2006 Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year, 2013 Atlantic Region Coach of the Year, 1999 University of Maryland Student-Athlete of the Year, University of Maryland Golf Team 1994-1999

Devin Gee – Head Golf Professional Oakmont Country Club, PGA Professional, 2012 & 2013 Tri-State PGA Match Play Champion, Methodist University Golf Team

Adam Hofmann – 2007 Pennsylvania State Amateur Champion, 2010-2011 WPGA Frank Fuhrer III Collegiate Player of the Year, 2006 WPIAL Individual Champion, Vanderbilt University Golf Team 2007-2012

Sean Knapp – Fourteen time WPGA Player of the Year, seven time West Penn Amateur Champion, three time Fuhrer Invitational winner, has competed in over 40 USGA National Championships, Indiana University of Pennsylvania Basketball Team 1980-1984

Mark Leon – Penn State University Men’s Golf Team Assistant Coach, 2005 U.S. Amateur Quarterfinalist, 2006 Canadian National Team, Canadian PGA Tour 2007-2010, 2004 All-American, Penn State University Golf Team 2001-2005

Katie Miller – Three time PIAA Girls State Champion, 2007 Pennsylvania Women’s Amateur Champion, 2009-2010 LPGA Futures Tour, 2004-2005 & 2006-2007 All-ACC Selection, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Golf Team 2003-2007

Tim Nettles – WPGA Executive Committee Member, father of two sons both who went through the recruiting process and gained full golf scholarships to Division I schools

John Yerger – Chairman Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions, 1977 West Penn Junior Champion, 1977 Quarterfinalist U.S. Junior Amateur, University of Georgia Golf Team 1978-1980, Louisiana State University Golf Team 1980-1983

The evening will be moderated by golf writer and host of The Fan Golf Show, Mike Dudurich. USGA Northeast Regional Director, Joe Sprague will discuss the importance of United States Junior Amateur Championship and other topics related to junior golf.
